Welcome to our site!

The Hudson Genealogical Study Group, founded in 1986, is a chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society.  While we are primarily concerned with the area in and near the City of Hudson in Summit County, Ohio, we also want to assist and encourage all who are researching their own personal Family Tree to improve the accuracy and quality of the information included in their tree. Membership in this chapter is open to all persons with any genealogical interests. Our programs cover a wide range of genealogical programs helpful for the beginning genealogist to the expert.

Membership Renewal Reminder

We are now accepting dues for the 2024-2025 year. Dues are $25 for individuals or couples.

**Please do not use the On-Line Join page on our site as it is currently not working.  Thank you for your patience as we work out the issue.

New Documents

Blank forms for 1950 US Federal Census are available on our Genealogical Documents page for members only.

Handouts from our meetings are available to everyone at our meetings. Afterwards, meeting handouts are available on our Chapter Documents page for members only.

Do you have an IRA ?

If you have an IRA, 401K or similar, don't forget that there are requirements for withdrawing those funds.

If you are age 72 or older, IRS rules require you to take Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) each year from your tax deferred retirement accounts.  A QCD is a direct transfer of funds from your IRA, payable directly to a qualified charity, as described in the QCD provision in the Internal Revenue Code.

You can learn more HERE.

Hudson Genealogical Study Group (HGSG) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and operates according to its bylaws.  All donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

If you follow the rules and have money sent directly from your financial institution to HGSG, you may not need to pay income tax on the withdrawal and HGSG can receive the full benefit of the withdrawal.

Be sure to consult your financial advisor on your options.
